After 27 hours, Dhaka’s New Supermarket fire was extinguished

Around 27 hours after it began, a large fire at New Supermarket, which is close to Dhaka New Market, was eventually put out. During this busy Eid shopping season, the fire destroyed multiple shops and establishments.

The flame was ultimately put out this morning about 9 am, according to Lima Khanom, the duty officer in charge of the Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters’ control room.

The fire started yesterday morning about 5:40.
The Bangladesh Army, Navy, and Air Force contributed a total of 28 firefighting units and teams to the operation to put out the fire. Yesterday around 9:10 am, the fire was put out.

While firefighters were attempting to put out the fire, about 32 individuals, including firefighters, became ill from the thick smoke.
