On Eid, 14 people are crashed

At least 14 people were killed and 12 others injured in separate road accidents in Netrokona, Bagura, dinajpur, Barishal, Madaripur, Gazipur, Faridpur and and Meherpur districts on Eid day.

In Netrokona, three teens were killed and three others injured as two motorcycles collided head-on at frontier Kalmakanda upazila on Saturday.The accident took place at Bou Bazar in Kharnoi union parishad of the upazila in the afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Abu Bakar, 17, son of Shahjahan Mia of village Purbo Jhigatala, Masud Mia, 17, son of Mannan Mia of the same village and Sumon Mia, 23, son of Iman Ali of village Bamna Gaon in the upazila.

There were three riders in each of the two motorcycles. A head-on collision between two motorcycles took place at Bou Bazar in the afternoon, leaving Abu Bakar and Masud Mia dead on the spot.

In Barishal, a policeman and an Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) official were killed as a speeding bus rammed into their motorcycle on the Barishal-Jhalokathi highway on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Md Fayez, a sub-inspector of DMP’s Special Branch and a resident of Raipur village of Jhalakathi, and Emdadul Huque, son of Abdul Latif of Gouripasha village in Nalchity upazila. Emdadul worked at the Habiganj ACC office.

Anwar Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Barishal Kotwali Model Police Station, said the police officer came home a few days ago for the Eid vacation.Fayez along with his companion were going to Raipur by motorcycle from Barishal this afternoon. When they reached in front of the Grameen Eye Hospital around 4pm, a bus of Himel Paribahan coming from the opposite direction hit their, leaving them critically injured.

They were rushed to Barishal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital where doctors declared SI Fayez dead on arrival, added the OC.

Emdadul succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

In Bogura, three youths were killed and three others injured in separate road accident in Nandigram upazila on Saturday afternoon.

The deceased were motorcyclist Al- Imran, 28, son of Nantu Mia, a resident of Damgara village in the upazila, Abidar Hossain, 24, son of Golam Hossain, of Sadar upazila in Gaibandha district and Bulbul, 30.

In Dinajpur, a man was killed in a road accident at Nawababganj upazila in Dinajpur district on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Masud Rana, 21, son of Jahidul Islam, a resident of Birampur upazila.

Police said Masud Rana was going to Nawabganj upazila by a motorcycle. His motorcycle hit a van in Garibpara area in the afternoon after losing control over the steering. He died on the spot.

Nawabganj Police Station OC Ferdous Wahid confirmed the matter.

In Gazipur, a youth was killed when his motorcycle hit a roadside tree at Fulbaria on Kaliakoir-Sreepur Regional Highway after he lost control over the vehicle on the Eid day.

Jibon Hossain, 23, son of Billal Hossain of village Pirujali under Joydebpur Police Station in Gazipur district, later succumbed at Sreepur Upazila Health Complex at about 12 noon.

Police seized the bus but its driver and helper managed to flee the scene, said the officer, adding that legal action will be taken in this regard.

In Madaripur, a school student named Nazmul Howladar (15) was killed after losing control of his motorcycle in Shibchar upazila of Madaripur.

In Faridpur, a young man named Jobair Molla (22) died while driving a motorcycle recklessly in Bhanga Upazila of Faridpur. At this time, two passengers were seriously injured.

In Meherpur, a child named Sadia Khatun (11) was killed after being hit by a motorcycle in Gangni Upazila of Meherpur.

In Jashore, a student named Al Amin (20) died in a road accident in Jessore’s Bagharpara. The accident took place on the Jessore-Narail highway in Charavita area of the upazila.
