11 bodies found on trawler

The deceased’s identities were not immediately revealed. Councillor Akter Kamal of Cox’s Bazar Municipality Ward No. 1 acknowledged the incident and stated that at least eleven dead had been found.

He said that rescue efforts are being carried out by the Cox’s Bazar Sadar police and firefighters.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rafiqul Islam of the Cox’s Bazar Sadar police station stated that after being alerted, officers arrived to the scene and retrieved the fishing vessel.

The representative said that the remains in the trawler were already decomposing. They believed that at least 10 to 12 days had passed since thieves assaulted the boat. The boat is believed to have seven or eight bodies, according to the police.

According to locals, the fishing boat left port for the open ocean at least 15 to 16 days ago.
