As a result of a container train derailing in Sadar upazila of Brahmanbaria on Thursday, railway service from Chattogram and Sylhet (up line) to Dhaka has been discontinued since Thursday afternoon.
The container train was traveling from Chattogram to the capital at approximately 12:50 p.m., when seven of its bogies swerved off the rails in the Dariyarpur region owing to extreme heat, according to Md. Rafiqul Islam, acting master of Brahmanbaria Railway Station.

He said that the train traffic from Dhaka to Chattogram and Sylhet also continued as usual. The train movement from Dhaka to Chattogram and Sylhet was claimed to have been snapped since the incident.
Around 5 o’clock, a recovery train from Akhaura arrived at the scene, but the rescue effort has not yet begun, he added.
